By MyBabyshowershop.com Brenda Green 3/19/11 (c)
12 things to include on the website:
- Home page to introduce yourselves, with a slide show of pictures, a count down to your delivery date with couples names at the top or one name.
- Photos under Album. – ultrasound images
- Video – Over 80% of people watch a video online every day.
- Audio –a song planned for the baby shower or heart monitor sounds.
- Events like growing baby
- Registry.
- R.S.V.P electronically for the baby shower.
- Information for out of town guests (limited).
- Extra Information (such as “theme”).
- Thank you.
- Contact us form.
- Use the Website Security feature or do not create the site at all.
5 types of information to Limit
- Family and friends highly personal details and images. - Guestbook
- Journaling about your baby’s experiences.
- Directions/addresses (indicate city state only) with note to see your invitations for the enclosed map.
- Enabling/allowing to post to FB and Tweeter.
- Limit access to your friends and family only, not the whole world (which can include the child molesters and child abductors.)
7 things to NEVER List on the website:
- Wish list – your registry list already does that so you don’t have to duplicate your work or offend anyone by listing it on the website.
- Mailing list.
- Addresses and a map or exact directions with time of the events.
- Highly personal information like – dates of birth, problems you feel you are having with vendors or conflicts with family or friends.
- Phone numbers.
Always keep in mind, opportunistic people (such as criminals) scan the Internet for information that tells them you will be away at a specific time; so they can find your home(s) and rob you of anything valuable in a matter of 5-15 minutes. Personal information such as date of birth with your names and personal information like what your favorite thing is = a possible password one can use for identity theft purposes.
- Keep your baby safe from child molesters – no naked images. Always with clothes or blanket to cover your child. Baby’s first bath is sweet, but don’t share it to everyone in the world.
What if I don’t know how to design a baby website? (Even though it is free and has “user-friendly templates”) Contact the website company and see how they can help and if there is a fee for the service. Contact someone like myself that helps people and businesses with websites and blogging/journaling with the added benefit of work experience in the creativity and baby shower and baby product fields. It may be worth it for you to hire an expert to do it for you (DIY); plus receive an exclusive bonus on how to make your website a lasting keepsake! You could see your baby site within a couple of hours.
